LTTE Vavuniya Political Wing Head, Ganam, told the SLMM in a meeting at the Puliyankulam office of the Political Wing, about the increasing abductions, killing, and theft carried out by the paramilitary Owner of a private bus company and his employee shot dead in Vavuniya by paramilitary A well known owner of a private bus company that runs bus service between Vavuniya and Colombo and his employee ere shot dead on Wednesday night in the Vairava Puliyankulam region in Vavuniya. Navaratnam Gunaratnam (36) owner of the “Kapilan” bus service and his employee, Don Yute Anthony Perera (34) were the two shot dead on Wednesday night by the paramilitary group. Gunaratnam was in his home in Station Road in Vavuniya talking with his family when armed men arrived in a white van at 8.30 pm and sprayed bullets at Gunaratnam. Gunaratnam died on the spot. Anthony Perera his employee who happened to arrive at the door of the house heard the shooting and tried run into the house. The gunmen sprayed the bullets on Anthony Perera too. He too died on the spot. Gunmen escaped in the white van. It is believed that the same group that has been carrying out the abductions, killing, and theft in Vavuniya is also responsible for this killing. This murder must be seen in the context of the murder of Atlas Bus service owner Balenthiran in Colombo, and the grenade attack on the owner of the Ratna Private Bus Company in Vavuniya. The latest incident has taken place even after the increased level of security measures put in place. Father shot dead in Batticaloa by paramilitary Father of four Chitravel Selvam (36) of Eravur, Iyankerni, was shot dead by paramilitary group on Monday 6 March at 9.30 pm. The body has been taken to the Batticaloa hospital by the Batticalo Police.
