Another Karuna group member exposes GoSL-paramilitary alliance
Jeyachandran, a Karuna group member, was arrested by the LTTE on 7 July in the LTTE area of Eachchilampattu, Trincomalee.
Jeychandran, from Kathiravelu, Batticaloa, stated that he was captured by the LTTE after the Karuna group and Sri Lankan army (SLA) provided him with claymore mine materials to carry out an attack against the LTTE. He said that Karuna group members and 50 SLA troops escorted him into the LTTE area for the attack. Jeychandran stated he has been transported by Karuna group members and SLA soldiers to and from SLA army camps such as Mahindapura army camp, Trincomalee Plantain Point army camp and Kallaru army camp. He was taken by the Karuna group on 2 July. Jeyachandran spoke to SLMM monitors of Trincomalee district at the LTTE Political Office in Sampoor. Earlier this year in February another Karuna group member, Arumugam Vigneswaran, exposed a GoSL-paramilitary plot to carry out an attack against the LTTE. Vigneswaran was housed at the Kiran SLA camp before surrendering to the LTTE.
