Killings and Disappearance:Three civilians were shot and killed in Jaffna. Mathiyaparanam Nimalchandran was shot and killed when he went to the shop in Alaveddy two days ago.Two youths were shot and killed near Thalankavil Pillayar temple in Thirunelvely day before yesterday. These two youths, aged between 25-30 were yet to be identified. Sri Lankan military claimed that they killed these youths and their bodies were handed over the bodies at the Kopay Police Station.
Four bodies of youths were found with gun shot injuries in Trincomalee and Mannar. Two youths in Kanniya and one youth at Alex Thoddam were found dead with gun shot injuries. Another body of a youth was found in the Thalaimannar Sea. None of the four bodies have been identified yet. A youth went missing while he was travelling from Kokuvil to Jaffna. Raveendran Rajiv, 21, a carpenter from Kokuvil went missing and his parents have lodged a complaint to the Jaffna branch of the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission. Sri Lankan military blocked ambulance with four patients including a baby Sri Lankan military from Valaichenai and Katkuda camps continues to shell over the civilian areas in Vakarai. The civilians have been displacing from their homes due to the continuous heavy shelling. The continuous shelling has disturbed the civilian life in the villages of Vakarai, Kathiraveli, Eechchilampattu, Verukal and Patsenai. Suppaiyah Jeyakumar, aged 30 from Patsenai was seriously injured in the shelling around 7.30 am yesterday. Four civilians including a six month old baby were seriously injured in the shelling day before yesterday. The Sri Lankan military blocked the ambulance with these for injured civilians when they were taken to Batticaloa hospital for further treatment. The baby sustained serious injuries and fragments have lodged in her spinal code. These four civilians are at Vakarai hospital without receiving proper medical care. Sri Lankan military closed all the exit and entry points to Vakarai since 27th October. Even the non-governmental organisations were not allowed to the area. LTTE has asked the SLMM to ensure the route to Vakarai from Batticaloa through Mankerni check point kept open for the free movement of civilians. Sri Lankan military fired artillery shells towards Vellaveli, Iluppayadi, Munmari, Siruththayankal and Thikiliveddai area. Artillery shells exploded near the school at Vellaveli. Teachers and students ran away in panic. People of Vellaveli are now displaced to Koraitivu, Munaitivu and Palukamam. While civilians from Koduvamadu, Karadianaru and Kumancholai were displacing in fear of the shelling, Sri Lankan Air force Kfir planes also bombed these areas. Many houses were completely destroyed and livestock were killed.
