
Two days of high violence in Jaffna by GoSL operated forces
GoSL operated forces carried out killings and abductions over the past two days in Jaffna using their well-known methods of “white van” and “motorbike” killings.
Valli Krishnan (68) was shot and killed at his home in Urani, Puttur East on Friday, 21 July around 9.30 pm. Krishnan was at his home when gunmen came on a motorbike and called him outside. When he went outside, the gunmen shot him dead. Sinnamani Tharmarasah (28) was shot and killed by gunmen on a motorbike in Kopay North on Friday, 21 July around 7.00 pm. Tharmarajah was going to a relative’s home when gunmen killed him on the road. A Nagamani, (55) was shot and killed by gunmen at his home in Ottumadam on Saturday, 22 July around 7.00 pm. The gunmen called Nagamani to come outside and shot him dead. Thavachelvam (28) was shot and killed by gunmen in the Rasaveethy area on Saturday, 22 July around 6.30 pm. Thavachelvam works at a Telecommunication centre and was returning from work when he was shot dead by the gunmen. Justin Cruz (35) was abducted by gunmen in a white van in Point Pedro as he was riding his bicycle on Saturday, 22 July around 8.30 am. Witnesses said they heard Cruz shouting for help, were threatened by the abductors, and then saw a white van quickly driving away. Cruz works as a fisherman, and is married with three children. His wife lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission.
