Violence in Northeast reported on 24-01-2006Chavakachcheri-JaffnaOne civilian was shot and killed and another woman wounded in an attack by the SLA intelligence operatives in Chavakachcheri town around 1.30 pm on 23rd January. Santhirakasan Krishnagobi (30), a shopkeeper from Chavakachcheri was killed by gunshots and Thevarasa Yasotha(21) was injured. The gunmen coming in a motor-bike opened fire at the victims who were in the shop and escaped. Vavuniya A tutory owner shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in Goodshed road, Vavuniya by 5.00 pm on 23rd January. Kanakalingam Kamalachandra(34) from Vavuniya was shot and killed infront of a shop when he was on his way to home. The shop owner, J. Jeyathas(50), with whom the victim was talking to, also sustained serious injuries and was admitted in the hospital.
