Did LTTE attack the three offices of aid organizations in Trincomalee?

On 21 May, three aid offices, in Trincomalee, Non Violent Peace Force (NVPF), ZOA (a Dutch agency helping refugees), and Intersos (an Italian relief organization), were attacked simultaneously with grenades.

Most international agencies quoting the Sri Lankan army said that the LTTE were responsible.

NVPF is giving an excellent and desperately needed service to the terrorized people of Northeast who are being killed by the Sri Lankan armed forces and its paramilitary. The services of the NVPF to the Allaipiddy people after the 13 May Massacre, has been most valuable.

LTTE Trincomalee Political Head, Elilan, maintains close links with NVPF representatives there. LTTE leaders in Kilinochchi also keep in touch with the officers of NVPF.

LTTE has no interest in expelling these INGOs. On the contrary LTTE values their services to the frightened people. These INGOs are also bearing witness to the terror unleashed on the Tamil people by the Sri Lankan armed forces and its paramilitary. Is it too hard to work out who would like to see these INGOs out of Northeast?

It is hard explain how international media can repeat the Sri Lankan Army statement that LTTE is responsible for the attacks on these offices, without even contacting LTTE for comments.

International media reporters must take this incident and their reports on it as a case study, and follow it up to determine if they are producing accurate reports by this approach.
