
LTTE member killed by SLA shelling in Batticaloa
Lt. Arulanantham, a senior LTTE member was killed on Wednesday 5 April in a shelling attack from the Sri Lankan Army (SLA) camp in Mankerni.
Forty armed men, including SLA soldiers and paramilitary cadres, began to attack the LTTE sentry post in Panichchankerni, Batticaloa. LTTE members counter-attacked and the 40 armed men retreated. As the LTTE continued to attack the retreating men, the SLA soldiers from the Mankerni camp began shelling the Pannichchankerni LTTE sentry post. The shelling killed Lt. Arulanantham. Trincomalee District LTTE Political Head S Elilan reported the incident, a serious violation of the ceasefire, through a letter to SLMM.
