SLA enters LTTE area in Ampara and attacks civilians
The Sri Lankan Army (SLA) entered 100 metres into the no-man’s land between LTTE and SLA controlled areas in the Kangirankuda region in Ampara disctrict on Sunday, 16 April between 4:30 and 6:15 pm. The SLA entered the area in four heavily armed vehicles.
As civilians were traveling into the LTTE controlled area, SLA soldiers began attacking them. The SLA soldiers stole a motorbike belonging to a civilian. SLA also sprayed bullets into the LTTE controlled area more than 60 times. Civilians fear that only a few of the SLA soldiers returned to GoSL controlled area and that many SLA soldiers are still in hiding in bushes in the LTTE controlled area.
