Activities of GoSL operated forces on 25-26 June
Jaffna: Children in armed conflict: On 26 June, 12 year old daughter of a famous Jaffna businessman was kidnapped at 3.30 pm from her home where she was alone at that time. She was abducted by men on motorbikes according to eye witnesses.
Jaffna: Children in armed conflict: On 25 June, Vijayaratnam Suvaruban (15) was returning after visiting the office of a Member of Parliament when he was attacked by SLA men who had their faces covered with black cloth. Jaffna: Missing after arrest: On 23 June. Abimanyu Yogendran (25) of Puthur went to Jaffna town. His family has lodged a complaint that he has been missing ever since. Jaffna: Missing after arrest: Arumugam Jegatheeswaran (19) went with his wife to Chavakachcheru hospital from Navatkuli. People swat SLA men with their faces covered with black cloth arrest him. He has been missing ever since. Mannar: Children in armed conflict: SLA enters the hostel of the St Xavier Boys College in Mannar and start to attack the students who were studying. The Catholic priests who were in charge of the hostel were humiliated as they attempted to intervene. Mullaitivu: Fishermen fired at by SLN: On 26 June, four fishermen out fishing in the Mullaitivu seas at night were fired at by the Sri Lankan Navy. The four fishermen cut their nets and raced to the shore. They have complained to their fishermen’s co-operative about the firing. Batticaloa: Man shot dead: On 26 June, Thurarasa Yogarasa (34) of Onthachchimadam in Batticaloa was shot and killed by GoSL operated forces on motorbike at 6.30 pm. Trincomalee: Killed, missing, displaced: Three men were arrested by the SLA on 25 June in Anpuvalipuram in Trincomalee. The body of one of the arrested, Baskaran Sutharson, was found on 26 June. The other two are still missing. SLA also beat the people of the area and close to 100 families have displaced due to fear.
