
LTTE Political Head meets ICRC Sri Lanka head
LTTE Political Head, S P Tamilselvan, met with Sri Lanka ICRC Deputy Head, Peter Krakoling, and the Kilinochchi ICRC Head, Ms Kadja, to discuss urgent humanitarian concerns of the Tamil people, including the situation in Vaharai.
 The blocking of essential food and medicine to several parts of the Tamil homeland and the targeting of civilian population by artillery fire and aerial bombardments were discussed in detail. Previous requests made by the LTTE to ICRC for safe-havens in Vakarai were also discussed. Tamilselvan promised to provide full cooperation to implement the Geneva Convention. With Tamilselvan, S Elilan, LTTE Political Head for Trincomalee, P Thiyagaraja, Secretariat for Liaison with UN and International Agencies, and R Ilanthirayan, LTTE Defense Spokesperson, also attended the meeting. Latest reports indicate that the Sri Lankan military has arrested Tamil civilians from Vaharai who have trekked through jungles and in rain to flee Sri Lankan military artillery fire into Vaharai.
