
Activities of GoSL operated forces – 14 July
Trincomalee: The Sri Lankan army (SLA) has been continuing what has become routine shelling in Mutur East. Five civilians were injured due to the shelling. Five homes were completely destroyed and several other homes were damaged. The artillery and mortar shelling came from the SLA Monkey Bridge camp and began at 9.30 am on Friday, 14 July. The shelling lasted for two hours. One LTTE member, Ruben, was killed in the shelling attack.
Batticaloa: GoSL operated forces forcefully entered a home in Kanchipuram, Sivankovilady and opened fire at the family inside on Friday, 14 July at about 7.00 am. Navaratnam Thushanthan (22) was shot and killed on the spot. Another family member was injured and rushed to Batticaloa hospital. Family members stated that the gunmen arrived in a three-wheeler. Batticaloa: Kunasingam Puvanendran (19) was shot and injured by GoSL operated forces when he was riding his bicycle on Friday, 14 July around 6.45 am near the Palameenmadhu cemetery. He was admitted to Batticaloa hospital. Jaffna: During the daily power cut, GoSL operated forces, with their faces covered with black cloth, entered 15 homes near Udupiddy junction and damaged electric bulbs, doors, windows and other items inside the homes on Friday, 14 July at night. Residents of the homes were present during the attacks. Following the attacks, the residents gathered at Udupiddy junction SLA camp and complained about the attacks. The SLA told them that they had no knowledge of the incidents and turned the residents away, telling them to visit the Grama Sevaka office. Batticaloa: GoSL operated forces have been robbing civilians of their cell phones and money on the roadside in the areas of Valaichenai, Pethalai, Vinayagapuram. Civilians have said that the gunmen hide themselves by the roadside and then attack civilians.
