
32 civilians killed by GoSL operated forces in five days in the Northeast - 25 – 28 August
Batticaloa: Five masons, Tharmarasa Anandarasa (28), Soosaipillai Sutharson (26), Jeyarajah Manoraya (25), Thavarajah Babu (25), and the fifth person not to be identified, were killed while they gathered after work for drinks and chat by the Special Task Force of the Sri Lankan military on 26 August at Navatkerny.
Sathyaseelan Tharson was killed by detonating explosives tied to the motorbike he was riding by GoSL sponsored paramilitary on 25 August in Vavunathivu. Jaffna: C Lingeswaran (40), a fish vendor from Manipay was shot and killed by paramilitary gunmen on motorbike on 25 August. Sithamparapillai Shivashankar of Mallakam was shot and killed by paramilitary gunmen on motorbikeon 26 August. C Vijayakantharasa (38) was shot and killed by paramilitary gunmen on motorbikeon 26 August. Selvarasa Sivatha, a ten year old girl died of snake bite because Sri lankan military prevented her from reaching the hospital in time. Sellathurau Gopalasingam (53) , vice president of the Fishermen Cooperative for Supparmadam in Jaffna was shot and killed by paramilitary gunmen on 28 August near Athisoodi Pillaiyar temple. Mullaitivu: Suntharampillai Chandrakumar (39) died in a claymore attack by the deep penetration unit of the Sri Lankan military inside LTTE area on 27 August. Trincomalee: 20 civilians are reported killed by the all day shelling and aerial bombing by SLA on 28 August near Sampoor.
